- A professional music therapist holds a bachelor’s degree or higher in music therapy from one of over 70 American Music Therapy Association (AMTA) approved college and university programs.
- In-depth knowledge in three main areas: musical foundations, clinical foundations, and music therapy foundations and principles as specified in the AMTA Professional Competencies.
- A minimum of 1200 hours of clinical training, including a supervised internship, prior to earning certification.

Teri Mock has been a practicing Music Therapist for 16 years. She received her undergraduate degree from Arizona State University and pursued her Master of Arts in Music Therapy at St. Mary-of-the-Woods College in Indiana, earning the degree in 2002. During her career, she has developed specialties in Medical Music Therapy and Rehabilitation, Special Education, Special Needs and Autism, Geriatrics, Senior Needs and Alzheimer’s disease and Dementia Disorders, Hospice and End-of-Life Needs and Wellness. Today, she is in private practice, seeing individuals in both individual and group settings throughout the Phoenix Metro area and enjoys seeing the difference that Music Therapy can made in her clients’ lives.
